πŸ§„ From Backyard Beginnings to a Beloved Tradition

β€” Since 2004 πŸ§„

Make It. Bake It. Grow It.

Lower Nicola Garlic Festival

The Garlic Festival began in 2004 in the backyard of Becky and Pete. What started as a small gathering with a stage, live music, neighbours, and of course plenty of garlic, quickly grew into something special. They even created a mascot β€” Garlic Pete β€” who is still around today.

As the festival expanded over the years, it moved to Smith Pioneer Park, where it continues to be held today.

Now a celebration of local flavour, agriculture, and small-town spirit, the Lower Nicola Garlic Festival brings neighbours and visitors together for two full days of family fun, entertainment, and community connection. Over the years, the festival has featured mini tractor pulls, antique car displays, live music, children’s activities, and a wide variety of local vendors.

While the event continues to evolve, its heart remains the same β€” bringing people together to celebrate our community. It’s a wonderful way to spend a weekend with family and friends, with something for everyone to enjoy.

All proceeds from the Lower Nicola Garlic Festival support the ongoing maintenance and operation of our local community hall, helping ensure it remains a welcoming space for gatherings, celebrations, and community events year-round.

Over the years, the Garlic Festival has featured many memorable attractions and traditions, including: live music, tractor pulls antique car show, and children’s activities. We have worked diligently to continue to grow in size over the years. For 2025, we had our largest amount of vendors to date. For 2026… we hope to fill all 110 spaces!
